Ruggles™ Apfelbaum Surgical Instruments

Ruggles™ Apfelbaum Microsurgical Instruments are designed with ultimate precision. They are delicate, properly balanced and uniquely angled for the most intricate tissue dissection.

  • Extremely precise and delicate micro dissecting instruments allow for very fine nerve, tissue and tumor dissection.
  • Slightly larger and easier to grasp handles than other micro dissector sets give Apfelbaum dissectors better balance and control during intricate procedures.
  • Uniquely angled instruments are invaluable in teasing out small bits of difficult-to-reach tumor that cannot always be directly visualized.
  • These microsurgical instruments are offered in both straight and angled design for the convenience of the surgeon.

Ruggles™ Apfelbaum Bipolar Forceps are designed with precision to give the surgeon maximum comfort and ultimate control.

  • Finely polished tips reduce tissue adhesion and charring.
  • Weight and balance adjusted for maximum comfort and sensitivity in the surgeon's hand.
  • Self-centering to minimize scissoring of tips.
  • The proximal cable connection is angled down, adding balance to the instrument as well as keeping the connection from impinging on the microscope.
  • Available in both standard and longer length design for procedures requiring a deep reach, such as transphenoidal surgery.
  • Tips available designated as fine (1.0mm) and very fine (0.7mm) for more delicate applications.
  • Angled up and angled down tips are particularly useful in reaching around and behind important structure to achieve proper coagulation while not risking current flow to those structures.

Ruggles™ Apfelbaum Extended Reach Curettes are designed specifically to facilitate spinal canal decompression via an interbody approach.

  • Small, 90º angled cup minimizes intrusion in the spinal canal.
  • Three lengths of reach (5, 6 and 7mm) allow curettes to be used in a sequential manner to remove posterior marginal osteophytes through an interbody approach to fully decompress the spinal canal and neural foramina.
  • This combination of features not only allows complete decompression of the spinal canal, but could save the vertebral body, often eliminating the need for a corpectomy.
  • Long handled version provides additional leverage, if needed.
